—DETAILS—
The French company Peugeot may be most commonly associated with cars, but they actually made spice mills first, far back in 1874. In the 146 years since, no other salt and pepper mills stay as sharp, resist corrosion as well, and last as long, which is why nobody in the culinary industry would hesitate to call them iconic. Salt, unlike pepper, can corrode metal if it absorbs too much moisture. Thats why most salt mill blades are made from less durable ceramic. Not Peugeots, which are made from rust-resistant 18/10 stainless steel so it lasts many years. The six uSelect grind settings can be found on the bottom of the mill with the roman numeralsI is finest, and VI is most coarse. The body is made from European beechwood witha naturalfinish. Traditionally, darker coloured pepper mills are paired with lighter or white salt mills, but there are no hard and fast rules.
Note: Salt mills are intended to grindlarge crystalsof salt; small particles of salt or sea salt flakes, like Maldon or Cornish, will get stuck in the mechanism.
—BENEFITS—
‘Any fine dining restaurant worth its salt has a Peugeot mill. Expertly crafted inside and out, these grinders seem to wake up pepper and salt just before it reaches your plate.’
