They include many features you usually only find on more expensive models, including backlit LCD, monitor, call tones, roger beep, child lock, VOX hands-free function, and 38 CTSS sub channels to reduce interference on congested channels. There is also an LED built-in to find your way in the dark, and a 2.5mm earpiece jack to plug in a headset mic (not included). When not in use, the Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are kept topped up in the supplied charging cradle. When you are away from the charger, a battery save function helps to extend battery life, and regular Alkaline AAA batteries can also be used to keep the unit operating.
