The French company Peugeot may be most commonly associated with cars, but they made spice mills first, far back in 1874. In the years since, no other salt and pepper mills have stayed as sharp, resist corrosion as well, and last as long, which is why nobody in the culinary industry would hesitate to call them ‘iconic’.

Salt, unlike pepper, can corrode metal if it absorbs too much moisture. Thats why most salt mill blades are made from less durable ceramic. Not Peugeots, which are made from rust-resistant 18/10 stainless steel so it lasts many more years. The jewel-like knob on the top of this special-edition 1874 Salt Mill can be adjusted to obtain your ideal grind: the tighter the knob, the finer the salt. It is thoughtfully wrapped in a fabric bag and presented in a gift box.

A matching pepper mill is sold separately.

Note: Salt mills are intended to grind large salt crystals; small particles of salt or sea salt flakes, like Maldon or Cornish, will get stuck in the mechanism.
